Two new additions!!

Yet another family trip to feed the ducks at Tehidy providid much better views and photos of the Scaup. Better still was the Treecreeper (87) just along the southern footpath near the main lake! Added Peregrine to the garden list this morning (43) but the ringing was poor with just a female Chaffinch of note. Heres a few snaps from yesterday as promised. Dunnocks are much better 'in the hand'!

Nothing much new!

Since going out in the first few days of the year with Ash i think i have managed another 6 or so species!! Year total now on 86, with recent addition being Black Redstart (84), Green Woodpecker (85) and Scaup (86). 42 of these species I have recorded in my garden this year! Caught a cracking male Blackcap this morning aswell as a few Long-tailed Tits, which are always nice in the hand. Will put some photos on soon.

And a few more.....

Reed Bunting above and Common Gull below. Both at Lakeside, Doncaster on Boxing Day 2009.

More Photos.....

The good thing about cold weather and a loaf of stale bread is that gulls are easy to photograph! This Black-headed Gull was taken on Boxing Day at Lakeside, Doncaster. The winter light conditions were perfect.

Recent'ish Photos

One or two snaps I've taken in the last few months seeing as i haven't posted any images recently. The Fieldfare was one of two ringed in my back garden, both took up residence seeing off the resident blackbirds and Song Thrushes. They didn't bother with the Redwings unusually?
The Great-crested Grebe was taken at Lakeside, Doncaster during my christmas break 'up North'.

Happy New Year!!

So 2010 is here already and night shifts for me over the first four days of the new year!! Not particularly good for birding but i managed Black-headed Gull, Mute Swan and Wigeon before 6am on the 1st! The rest of the day was spent in bed but i managed an hour i the garden before it got dark, resulting in a total of 24 species and 22 for the garden list. A few trips out on the 2nd and 3rd got the year list up to 80 species, including a brief Water Pipit at Marazion. In the early hours of the 4th i flushed a Woodcock from the side of the road in Zennor. So that puts me on 81 sp. so far.
